Jacob Martinez

Jacob Martinez is a Project Director at Education, Training, and Research Associates (ETR Associates). He has more than eight years' experience leading IT education throughout the California Central Coast.  His passion is developing programs and building collaborations with other agencies to increase the representation of Latinos in science and technology.

He currently serves as the Project Director for the Watsonville Tecnología-Educación-Comunidad (Watsonville TEC) program, funded by a three-year National Science Foundation grant. Watsonville TEC is designed to test a face-to-face out-of-school youth Information Technology (IT) education program combined with an online community of learning and support and an intensive parent engagement and leadership component. Watsonville TEC serves a predominantly Latino population. Previously Jacob was the project coordinator for the Girl Game Company which worked to increase the skills and confidence of Latinas to pursue careers in IT. Before coming to ETR, he was an academic coordinator for the Math Engineering Science Achievement program at the University of California at Santa Cruz. He also served as Project Director for the inaugural Pajaro Valley Unified School District Summer Algebra Academy.

Jacob received his Bachelors of Science Degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz and his Masters in instructional science and technology at California State University at Monterey Bay.
