AAUW-WHC Expanding Your Horizons Conference (EYH)

Our upcoming Expanding Your Horizons conference, on February 23, 2019, is celebrating its 27th year. This remarkable day-long conference annually touches the lives of over 600 Houston area middle school girls, their parents, teachers, and counselors. EYH introduces the girls to scientific, technical, and financial careers by matching them with women who share their enthusiasm, experience, educational background, and potential opportunities in their chosen profession.

EYH conferences began over 35 years ago through the Math/Science Network in Oakland, California. A total of over 800,000 girls have attended conferences through the United States and around the world. Our WHC branch has had over 9,000 participants. EYH is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible program and is funded by contributions from corporations, foundations, and individuals.

Each year the majority of our membership volunteers in some way with the planning and carrying out of the conference. Volunteers apply their talents and work experiences to create expanded learning opportunities for students. In recognition of the positive impact this effort has on the community, AAUW-WHC branch received the Mayor's Volunteer Houston Award in 2008. For more details please see www.eyhhouston.org.
