STEM Career Conference: Discover your SuperHEROINE Roadmap to Success
February 4, 2017 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at San Diego State University
The Association of Women in Science (AWIS) supports the advancement of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The San Diego chapter is recruiting STUDENTS and STEM ENTHUSIASTS for a one-day event for high school and college level young women on February 4th at SDSU.
This conference-style event will inspire, connect and guide those interested in STEM careers through speed mentoring with local women in STEM fields, workshops on STEM careers and tips to navigating a successful pathway as well as a poster session showcasing current research!
We are looking for the following volunteers and attendees:
Mentor-for-a-day: Women in STEM to talk about their career path
STEM Workshop hosts: Hands-on, 45-min. demonstrations for small groups in each STEM field
Career Roadmap Workshop hosts: Speakers to provide career advice in a panel setting (topics: admissions, funding, LinkedIn/resume, and internship/research experiences)
Volunteers: Various roles on the day of the event and opportunities to network (with lunch provided!)
Student attendees: young women in high school, community college or 4-year college
Poster presenters: young researchers to present a poster for a prize
Parents/educators: a parallel set of parent/educator sessions will be available
