Camp OWLS

Camp OWLS will benefit rising 7th grade girls from Florida county public school districts in Martin, St. Luci, Okeechobee and Indian River counties. The camp is funded by private support and hosted by Florida Atlantic University at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. The purpose is to develop scientific interest and career paths for girls. The curriculum, based on the Sally Ride Science Camp, will study the environment, urbanization, water management and agriculture. Role models in science fields will participant in the residential camp planned for August 2-8, 2009. Science teachers are included in the camp with plans to incorporate the students and curriculum back into the home schools through follow-up programs and connections.
