Kids Inner-City Code Workshop

We established our organization to offer code workshops in the inner-city/Los Angeles, primarily in areas that are underserved. The code workshops we run teach fundamental programming concepts to disadvantaged girls(and boys) who otherwise would not be introduced to such concepts. We teach children website design and applications using powerful learning tools such as Processing and HTML.

Youth in the inner-city are not well connected and do not have mentoring available to increase their awareness of computer programming. Girls in the inner-city have a double negative, their environment and the risk of not being encouraged to learn to code. Our organization takes at-risk youth and gives them an opportunity to learn to control technology and by doing so transforming their communities.
